Arabic Tuition

At The Rawha Academy we believe every child, fundamentally, has the capacity for great things. That given the right direction, mentoring and – yes – education, they have the capability to achieve.

The one-to-one environment of personalised tuition means their capabilities can be accelerated, nourished, developed and grown outside of the noise of the classroom, and their full potential can be realised. Our Arabic programme recognises that development of the child is crucial to ensure sustained academic progress for later school years.

Our practical study Arabic programme will help your child to develop and expand upon the key concepts in the two subject areas we focus on oracy and written Arabic Insha Allah. Your child will be regularly tested against National Curriculum Standards (if this is the option opted for).

The Rahwa Academy will support your child to improve skills in Arabic reading, spelling, writing, comprehension and grammar. Our aim is to make your child confident and fluent in Arabic and enjoy reading and writing to a high standard. The programme involves concept development, practice, testing and assessment.

“Indeed we have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an, in order that you may understand”

(Surah Yusuf, Verse 2)

Quranic Tajweed Tuition

The Holy Quran is the word of Allah (SWT) and is unlike any other book. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Verily the one who recites the Quran beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have twice that reward.”

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Beautiful recitation of the Quran is something many of us wish to achieve. The starting point to beautifying recitation is to recite with the correct rules of recitation, known as Tajweed.   The science of pronouncing the words of the Qur’an correctly as recited by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him). Without tajweed, one’s recitation can never be regarded beautiful.

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said:

“If a group of people come together in one of the houses of Allah, read the book of Allah and try to understand the meaning of it, Allah sends down sakinah (tranquility) to them. Mercy covers them and angels surround them; Allah tells those who are near him about them.” [Muslim]

Practice and repetition will make one’s tajweed perfect insha Allah.  As Ibn al-Jazaree says in his poem about acquiring Tajweed:

‘And there is no obstacle between it (learning Tajweed) and leaving it, Except that a person must exercise his mouth with it!’

The Holy Qur’an states: “And recite the Qur’an with Tarteel (in a slow pleasant tone and style).” [73/4].

When asked about the meaning of tarteel, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “It means that the Qur’an should be recited with tajweed and with due observance to the rules of waqf (pausing or stopping at the end of a verse)”.

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) has said,

“The best of all worship is the recitation of the Holy Qur’an.”

What are the three The Rawha stages?

The three stages of the tajweed course are:

The pronunciation of letters – Phonetics

Firstly, we will learn how to correctly pronounce the Arabic alphabet as well as becoming familiar with Arabic words and sentences. Insha’Allah by the end of this stage, we will be able to recite basic words and sentences of the Qur’an to a certain extent.

The rules relating to perfecting ones recitation

Now that we are in a position to identify and read the letters and words of the Qur’an with the correct pronunciation, we will learn all the rules related to perfecting ones recitation e.g. the rules relating to prolonging a letter, letters and words which should be pronounced from the nose, rules related to stopping and so on. Implementation of complex tajweed rules without the complexity or technical terminology.

The implementation

Everything that we have learned by this stage should now be implemented into our recitation of the Holy Qur’an. One should be in a position to identify and implement the correct pronunciation of letters as well as all the different rules whilst he/she is reciting the Holy Qur’an. Insha’Allah at the end of this stage one should be able read the Holy Qur’an fluently and in the correct manner.

ISLAMIC STUDIES – TUITION

At The Rawha Academy, our Islamic Studies tuition is mainly two-dimensional: individual character development and social development. On an individual level, we aim to prepare children to lead a positive and enriched life in tune with our Creator, aware of the challenges of the world around them, as well as to achieve positive rewards for the hereafter. On a social dimension, education should be a tool to preserve a community’s cultural heritage and a means for social change. The main goal of this programme is to help children realise their servitude to Allah (SWT) and adapt to Islam as a way of life.

Allah  says in the Holy Qur’an that we should continue learning throughout our lives and ask to have our knowledge increased: ‘And say: “My Lord, increase me in knowledge”’ [Qur’an: Chapter 20, Verse 114].

In the Islamic Studies tuition, many important aspects of Islam are taught such as:

  • Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence; the rules and practices we follow in Islam)
  • Aqidah (understanding correct Islamic beliefs)
  • Sirah (The biography of our beloved Prophet Mu?ammad (Peace be upon him) and its relevance and reverence)
  • Islamic history, spanning the lives of all the previous Prophets as well as major events of importance.
  • Adhab (Islamic manners and etiquette essential to a moral and rewarding life)

These topics are not only taught to cover classical knowledge but their contemporary applications and implications are explored and explained in detail. This makes our Islamic studies tuition a discipline that will be very relevant to our children in their everyday lives. Our aim is develop our children into upright and knowledgeable Muslims that embody sacred character who will be a source of benefit to themselves, their families and the wider community

We will be using a range of Islamic Studies books from the Iqra Books, Goodword Islamic Studies, Islamic Studies by Safar Academy and other similar relevant books and worksheets to inspire, motivate and develop a truly learning experience for children

Allah asks in the Holy Qur’an: ‘“Are those who know equal to those who do not know?”’ [Qur’an: Chapter 39, Verse 9].

The Messenger of Allah said, “Allah makes the way to Jannah easy for him who treads the path in search of knowledge. [Muslim].
